An article of mine was published in the June/July 2007 issue of the Pragmatic Marketer magazine. Entitled Product Management Axioms, it presents a small set of fundamental rules that can be applied by Product Managers in their daily jobs.
I’ve developed these over the years based on my experiences working in Product Management in a number of software companies. I try to apply them when possible and sometimes annoy my coworkers by repeating them with far too much regularity.
The four axioms I present are:
- Every activity is part of a sale
- Nail it then scale it
- Change is a process, not an event
- Think horizontally, optimize vertically
The article explains the meanings of each of these. I’ve actually blogged about #3 already in another post. Read the article and let me know what you think. And if you have come up with axioms of your own, please share.
